Course
The BA course itself was great, however students minoring in Education should be wary. The Education Campus tends to look after themselves and thus you may find yourself at the end of your degree not meeting the requirements for an Education minor, it's different to all the rest you see.
Lecturers
Lecturers- Some great, some average, some awful. However, everyone has people they do and do not get along with. My main issue with lecturers during my degree would be that in some areas there is a bit of a 'boys club' mentality. If you have an issue with one lecturer, you may find you have an issue with the whole department.
Career Opportunities
A Canterbury degree is well respected and I have never experienced problems getting a job. However, I believe some department (i.e. Psychology) are not as helpful as they could be in keeping their student's informed of their career opportunities and putting them in contact with such people.
University
The University is great. Make use of all of the facilities and get to know campus really well when you start. The 24/7 computer labs will some day become your best friend.
City Life/Social Scene
Pre-earthqaukes town life was AMAZING, lots of places depending on what you like. Now days events are mainly through the UCSA, or often outrageous house parties. Different, but great all the same.
Campus Facilities
The University is great. Make use of all of the facilities and get to know campus really well when you start. The 24/7 computer labs will some day become your best friend.
Student Association
one word: AMAZING.
Clubs/Societies
Great. Get involved, it looks great on your CV and you'll have heaps of fun in the process.
Sports Facilities
Good, but not great.
Accommodation
Very hard to come by, especially at the moment. Couples will need to look for accommodation WELL before they head down/up.
Overall Comments
Throughly enjoed my degree. However advise on course structure and future opportunities was weak.
