Lincoln University, formed in 1990 is the smallest university in New Zealand. Located less than thirty minutes from Christchurch, the history of Lincoln stretches back more than a hundred and twenty five years when the School of Agriculture was established as part of what is now the University of Canterbury. It is the oldest agricultural teaching institution in the Southern Hemisphere. Over 4,000 students attend Lincoln University in one of its three schools: Agriculture & Life Sciences, Commerce and Environment, Society & Design. Lincoln University offers unique courses in agriculture, biological sciences, viticulture, and oenology. The campus is noted for its space, with the buildings spread out well among plenty green areas.
